Jérémy Doku: A Young Talent

Jérémy Doku is a Belgian winger who is known for his insane dribbling and football acumen. He was born on May 27, 2002 in Antwerp, Belgium. His roots are from Ghana, which is a West African country. He used to train between classes when he was in boarding school in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. He has strong passion for football and loves football. He is currently playing for Premier league giant, Manchester city under the tutelage of eminent football manager, Pep Guardiola. He wears shirt no. 11 for Manchester city and 25 for Belgium national football team.

Entering the world of football

Jérémy Doku got the taste of football when he joined the KVC Olympic Deurne in his youth. Then in 2007, Jérémy Doku joined Tubantia Borgerhout and then he moved to Beerschot in 2009 and played till 2012. Later he joined Anderlecht at the age of 10 and stayed there for 6 years till 2018.

Brief career at Belgian club R.S.C Anderlecht

Jérémy Doku became the seventh youngest player, when he made the professional debut for Anderlecht. He was only 16 years, 5 months and 26 days old. He made his Anderlecht debut on November 25, 2018
against Sint-Truidense, a Belgian club plays in Belgian Pro League. He scored his first goal for his club on December 1, 2019 in a match against KV Oostende. He has played 34 matches for Anderlecht and was able to score only 5 goals.

Meritorious Career at Rennes and Manchester City

Rennes is a professional football club from Rennes, Brittany, which plays in Ligue 1, a top tier league in France. Rennes made an agreement for 5 years with Jérémy Doku for transfer fee of 26 million Euros which was the most expensive signing in the club’s history. He scored his first goal against Metz on March 20, 2021. He played 75 matches for Rennes and scored 10 goals. In last seasons for Rennes, he started to play gracefully and was in complete form.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on August 24, 2023, confirmed the signing of Jeremy Doku for transfer fee of 65 million Euros. Since then he has impressed the fans and manager of Manchester City. Jérémy Doku played his first match for Manchester City against Fulham on September 2, 2023 which resulted in Manchester City winning 5-1 at home. Jérémy Doku became the youngest player in Premier League history to provide four assists and scoring a goal in a single match against AFC Bournemouth and also tied the Premier League record for most assists in a single match. He has made 12 Manchester City’s appearances so far and has managed to score 2 goals.

International Career of Jérémy Doku

In 2017, Jérémy Doku joined Belgium U15 team and then played for Belgium U16, U17 and U21. Jérémy Doku played his debut match for Belgium national team on September 5, 2020 against Denmark in UEFA Nations League and scored his first goal against Iceland. He was the part of Belgium national team squad in 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar and made his world cup debut against Croatia. He was given man of the match award for his performance against Estonia in Group F Qualifiers for UEFA Euro 2024. Jérémy Doku can become the permanent member of the Belgium national team squad.
